it took 28hours to sail from santiago to port antonio where we arrived
yesterday evening at 10pm. bar was still open so we welcomed ourselfes
to this place with a couple of „mudslides“ now waiting for authorities
so we are allowed to leave the ship and marina. — Von logbook steelrat

After almost 4 weeks repairs and maintenance in CIENFUEGOS we had a 5
days sail against the winds to santiago de cuba where we arrived the day
before yesterday. today we are leaving santiago in the afternoon to sail
the 100miles to port antonio/jamaica. The 2 cracks in the cylinderheads
could be provisionally welded in cienfuegos. one of the two seems to be
gvood and tight but one is still not tight at all, but engine runs on
her 4 cylinders and so we will easily reach cartagena where the new made
cylinderheads are waiting for us.

Yesterday morning 10am we dropped anchor in the bay of cienfuegos in front of the marina marlin. The last 90nm we had to motorsail against a strong not predicted wind. Not very good for our engine as we have found out that we have a crack in one of the cylinderheads. Especially bad as there is no spareparts existing anymore, so now we are hoping to get this fixed here in cuba in a provisional way and at the same time we have ordered to manufacture 2 new cylinderheads in cartagena. Our travelplans have changed now:  we had to cancel the tour mexico–cuba–mexico and instead we will do this here !

FLYER BROKE AGAIN LAST NIGHT…FIGURED OUT THAT ALL THE ORIGINAL THREADS
MADE IN HONKKONG ARE KILLED BY UV RAYS AND SO WE DID THE AMAZING WORK
AND RESEWED ALL SEWINGS TO MAKE SUURE THIS SAIL IS NOT GOING TO FAIL
AGAIN….WAS NOT THAT EASY ALL THESE KILOMETERS OF THREAD WITH THE
ROCKING SHIP!
WE ARE NOW 80NM SOUTH OF GRAND CAYMAN AT THE LATITUDE OF
JAMAICA…..STRANGE SwELL IS COMING FROM THE EAST:)

WE ARE UNDER FULL SAILS HEADING FOR CIENFUEGOS/CUBA. SEA IS CALM A A LIGHT
BREEZE ALLOWS US A SPEED OF 4 KNOTS…..EVERYTHING IS PRETTY WELL OUT HERE:)

we just left cartagena bay and are on open seas after 10 days heavy
engine overhauling….all is best now except portauthorities are
stressing out in cartagena at the moment. weather is great and engine is
stopped and we do 6 knots. see ya in san blas soon

in cartagena LEAVING NEXT 17TH FEB TO SAN BLAS (spots open)

We had an very exeptional crossing from san blas to cartagena for this time of the year…the sea was so calm and peacefull like normally in october….reached cartagena after 25 hours sailing.
Now we are into maintenance works…fight against rust and repairing some stuff…easy going:)there are still some spots open for our next tour cartagena to san blas 17th february
